Ceramic Fibre Blanket
Light, flexible high-temperature insulation blanket used for furnace, ladle and launder insulation.
Ceramic fibre blanket is a light, flexible high-temperature insulation material produced by needling alumina-silicate fibres together. Its low thermal conductivity reduces heat loss and energy consumption.
It is used in furnace lid, ladle and launder insulation, as an extra insulating layer behind refractory, and where a thermal expansion allowance is required. It is easy to cut and shape; thickness, density and maximum service temperature class are chosen for the point of use.
Sizes and grades are supplied on request. As fibre dust can irritate skin and airways, gloves, a mask and protective clothing should be used when cutting and installing.
Typical chemical analysis (%)
| Aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) | 42-47 |
|---|---|
| Silicon dioxide (SiO₂) | 53-58 |
| Iron oxide + TiO₂ (Fe₂O₃ + TiO₂) | ≤ 0,2 |
| Alkalis (Na₂O + K₂O) | ≤ 0,25 |
Typical ranges. Exact values are given in the analysis certificate of each lot.
