Resins and Hardeners
Part A Resins
Phenolic resin component of the cold box system.
Part A is the phenolic resin component of the cold box phenolic urethane binder system. It is mixed with sand together with Part B (isocyanate), the mix is shot into the core box and cured within seconds by gassing with amine.
Cold box is widely used in series core production requiring high output rates and dimensional accuracy. Since the mix does not cure until gassed, the bench life of the sand is limited but sufficient; humidity and sand temperature affect the result.
Part A and Part B are parts of the same system and must be used together at the recommended ratio. Because the system contains nitrogen, suitability should be tested beforehand for gas-sensitive castings such as steel. The product should be kept in a closed container away from moisture.
