Resins and Hardeners
Alphaset Resin
Ester-cured alkaline phenolic resin for no-bake sand mould and core production.
Alpha set resin is an alkaline phenolic binder, also known in the industry as alkaline resin, that cures at room temperature with an ester hardener. Sand, resin and hardener are mixed to produce moulds and cores.
Because it contains no nitrogen or sulphur, it is preferred in steel casting and in parts sensitive to gas defects. Its thermal plasticity during pouring reduces the risk of hot tearing and veining. Setting time is adjusted through the hardener type and sand temperature.
Used sand can be recovered by mechanical or thermal reclamation. Resin and hardener ratios should be set according to sand type and target strength. See our Alpha Set Hardener product for the matching hardener.
