Resins and Hardeners
Alpha Set Hardener (5-7-9-11-12-13)
Ester-based hardeners with different reaction speeds for curing alpha set alkaline phenolic resin.
Alpha set hardener is an ester-based component that cures alkaline phenolic resin at room temperature. The numbers 5, 7, 9, 11, 12 and 13 denote types with different reaction speeds, so setting time can be adjusted to production conditions.
The choice of type depends on work time (bench life of the sand), strip time and the ambient and sand temperature. Slower types are preferred in hot weather and faster types in cold weather. The hardener level is also set as a percentage of resin weight.
The hardener should be stored in a closed container at room temperature. Trial mixes or consultation with us is recommended to find which number suits which condition.
