Alcohol and Water Based Zircon Coating
Zircon-filled refractory coating resistant to high temperatures for steel and heavy-section castings.
Zircon coating is a refractory mould and core coating with zircon (zirconium silicate) as the main filler. With its high refractoriness and low thermal expansion, zircon forms an effective barrier against burn-on and metal penetration in steel casting and heavy-section parts.
Alcohol-based types are dried by ignition after application, while water-based types need oven or forced drying. Zircon or alumina based coatings are commonly chosen for heavy-section steel castings.
Coating density and layer thickness directly affect surface quality. It should be mixed before use and dried completely. Since zircon filler settles, the coating should be stirred regularly during application.
