Alcohol and Water Based Alumina Coating
Alumina-filled refractory mould and core coating for steel and iron casting.
Alumina coating is a refractory mould and core coating with alumina (Al2O3) as the main filler. Thanks to its high refractoriness it reduces metal penetration into the sand and burn-on, lowering fettling cost.
Alcohol-based types are dried quickly by ignition. Water-based types are advantageous for environment and safety and need oven or forced drying. Alumina or zircon based coatings are commonly used for heavy-section steel castings.
Coating density (Baume), layer thickness and drying quality determine the result. It should be mixed thoroughly before application. You can consult us for the right choice according to the metal poured and the moulding system.
