Foundry Sands
Shell Sand
Resin-coated foundry sand used in the shell moulding process.
Shell sand is a foundry sand whose grains are coated with a thin resin layer; on a heated pattern it hardens to form shell moulds and cores. The shell moulding process is widely applied to thin-walled parts with high dimensional accuracy requirements.
Because the coated sand is free-flowing, it spreads evenly over the pattern and hardens quickly with heat. The resulting shell moulds and cores offer good surface finish and dimensional repeatability, and can be stored ready for use.
Coating type and grain distribution are supplied in different options on request. Store in a dry, cool place with the bag closed.
