ZR Filter Series
Zirconia based foam filter used in steel and high-temperature alloy casting.
The ZR filter series consists of zirconia (ZrO2) based ceramic foam filters. Steel pouring temperatures are markedly higher than those of cast iron, and the high-temperature strength and chemical stability of zirconia suit these applications.
The filter retains slag and oxide inclusions in molten steel and calms the flow, reducing mould erosion and new oxide formation caused by turbulence. Size and pore density (ppi) are selected according to the runner cross-section, casting weight and alloy.
Size and pore options are supplied on request. The filter must be seated fully in the runner print.
