Fibreglass Mesh Filter (Pig, Ductile, Steel)
Heat-resistant woven glass fibre filters that retain slag and inclusions in the gating system.
Fibreglass mesh filters are woven from heat-resistant glass fibre and usually stiffened with resin. Placed in the gating system or at the pouring cup, they retain slag and oxide inclusions in the molten metal and calm the flow.
They can be used as cut pieces, caps or ready-made sizes. Being light and easy to cut, they adapt quickly to different gating sizes. Mesh opening and filter size are chosen according to pouring temperature, metal type and pouring rate.
They offer a more economical solution than ceramic foam filters; for parts with higher inclusion-retention requirements, ceramic foam filters may be preferred.
