Neutral Furnace Lining
Alumina-magnesia (spinel) based dry furnace lining for steel and high-temperature melting.
Neutral furnace lining is a dry ramming lining mix based on alumina-magnesia (Al2O3-MgO) spinel. It is preferred in manganese steel and high-temperature melting where silica lining falls short. Chemically it behaves in a balanced way against both acidic and basic slags.
It is applied as with silica linings: dry compaction around a former followed by a controlled first heating. The sintering schedule should follow the product type and furnace capacity.
The metal melted, slag chemistry and operating temperature govern the choice. You can consult us with this information to determine the right type.
Typical chemical analysis (%)
| Aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) | 84-87 |
|---|---|
| Magnesium oxide (MgO) | 12-13 |
| Silicon dioxide (SiO₂) | ≤ 1 |
Typical ranges. Exact values are given in the analysis certificate of each lot.
