Acidic Furnace Lining (05, 06, 08)
Silica-based dry ramming lining for coreless induction furnaces used in cast iron melting.
Acidic furnace lining is a silica-based dry ramming (vibrated) lining mix with a high SiO2 content. It is compacted around a former placed inside the furnace and sinters on first heating to form a hard inner layer. It is widely used in grey and ductile iron and low-alloy steel melting, and is economical and tolerant of thermal shock.
The product is supplied in types with different sintering characteristics (05, 06, 08). Which type suits which furnace and operating regime depends on furnace capacity, the metal melted and the shift pattern; we recommend contacting us for selection.
Lining life depends on the sintering schedule, grain size distribution and thermal cycle. Heating and cooling rates should be controlled, and the furnace should not be left empty for long periods.
