Refractories
Micanite
Mica-based roll and sheet insulation between coil and lining in induction furnaces.
Micanite is a high-temperature electrical and thermal insulation material made by pressing mica flakes with a binder. In induction furnaces it is placed between the coil and the refractory lining to form an insulating layer and support lining placement.
It is supplied as rolls or sheets and cut to suit the furnace. The integrity of the layer matters for the electrical safety of the furnace and as a second barrier against metal leakage. Thickness and dimensions are determined by furnace type and capacity.
During installation the surface should be clean and dry, and layers should be placed without gaps or wrinkles. It should be stored protected from moisture. To select the right size and thickness, furnace details should be shared.
