Alcohols
Pure IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol)
Pure isopropyl alcohol (2-propanol) used for cleaning, surface wiping and as a solvent.
Isopropyl alcohol (IPA, 2-propanol, C3H8O) is a colourless, fast-evaporating solvent with a characteristic odour. It mixes with water in all proportions and, because it dissolves oil, grease and many organic residues, it is widely used for surface cleaning.
In foundries it can be used for wiping patterns, core boxes and equipment surfaces, for thinning alcohol-based coatings and for various cleaning tasks. Purity grade is set on request and supplied with a certificate of analysis per batch.
It is a flammable liquid (flash point about 12 °C). Store in a closed container, away from heat sources and in a well-ventilated area; use personal protective equipment when handling.
Typical chemical analysis (%)
| Purity (isopropyl alcohol) | ≥ 99,5 |
|---|---|
| Water | ≤ 0,1 |
| Acidity (as acetic acid) | ≤ 0,001 |
Typical ranges. Exact values are given in the analysis certificate of each lot.
