Alcohols

Foundry Alcohol

Alcohol used for thinning alcohol-based coatings and drying them by ignition.

Foundry Alcohol

Foundry alcohol is used to bring alcohol-based mould and core coatings to application consistency (thinning) and to dry them by ignition after application. As the alcohol burns, it removes the carrier liquid from the coating layer and leaves the refractory filler layer behind.

Coating density (Baume) is adjusted to the application method; excessive thinning can reduce coating thickness. Density control should be carried out in every batch of coating thinned with alcohol.

It is flammable. Precautions against open flames and sparks must be taken in the coating preparation and drying area, ventilation must be provided and the product must be stored in a closed container. The properties of the alcohol supplied are documented on request and per batch.
